About Delme Thomas
William Delme Thomas first played for Llanelli RFC in 1961 and captained Llanelli to their famous victory over the 1972 All Blacks. Delme won his first cap for Wales in 1966 and remained a first choice player until he retired from International rugby in 1973 having won 22 caps. Delme toured with the British Lions on three occasions, once to South Africa and twice to New Zealand.
Delme was honoured at the turn of the century as a memeber of the Gorsedd of the Bars at the National Eisteddfod, for his contribution to Welsh sport and the Welsh language.
When the Delme Thomas Centre is not in use as an indoor sporting facility, the space also lends itself to being a versatile exhibition centre.
